Humanitarian Work

Dr. Biggs has taken humanitarian trips to Guatemala every spring for the past 11 years. He is part of a team of dentists and physicians who set up a dental and medical clinic to provide greatly needed care to those less fortunate who could never pay for such services.

Hundreds of people line up outside of the clinic in anticipation of receiving care. The team of health care providers begins treating the patients in the early morning hours and works continuously until shortly before midnight.  Somewhere between 500 and 600 people receive treatment, sometimes for the first time in their lives.

As a young adult, Dr. Biggs spent two years living in Guatemala.  During that time, he grew to love the people there and is honored to return to serve them each year. He looks forward to visiting with those friends he has made during his time of living there.

Some of the children, as well as the adults, are fearful before receiving treatment.  They often have no idea what to expect.  They only know that they are experiencing pain and need help to make it stop.  Dr. Biggs takes time to talk to them and explain what needs to be done.  He makes sure that they are comfortable and that they each receive the proper care.
